University Staff Council November 15, 2001 meeting
Committee on Committees Report

The Committee is continuing its review of the UT General Faculty Standing Committees and models of other universities such as Rice University, Vanderbilt University, University of Vermont and University of Pennsylvania.

Dalton Wall and Cheryl McVay developed a form, Staff Nominations to University Standing Committees. The Committee would like the Council to approve the form today. This is the first step in creating a process to appoint staff to the Standing Committees. The next step would be to identify all the Standing Committees to which staff may be nominated.

Issues Committee Report

Forms for use and distribution for Issues Proposals are available on the table. Please copy these forms if necessary.

Completed forms should be submitted to me (Linda Stacavich) by a member of the Staff Council, but may be requested and used by any staff member of the University. We ask that the Staff Council member review the form with the requestor to be sure all necessary information is included. We hope to have this form and a paragraph of basic instructions available for download and printing on the web site as soon as possible.

We are prepared to enter data into the database to begin our process of recording and monitoring progress of issues.

We are asking the members to now volunteer for participation on the working committees. Five members per committee would be ideal. Sign-up sheets are on the tables. As a reminder, committees include:

  • Compensation and Classification
  • Grievance
  • Insurance
  • Miscellaneous Benefits
  • Parking and Transportation
  • Retirement
  • University and Public Relations

I currently know of issues that would be covered by Insurance and Miscellaneous Benefits so it is especially important to populate those committees.
