February 13: "OUT AT WORK" Documentary

In 1992 Cheryl Summerville, a cook at a Cracker Barrel restaurant outside Atlanta, received a termination paper stating that she was fired for "failing to demonstrate normal heterosexual values." She was shocked to discover that in more than 40 American states it was legal to fire workers simply because of their sexual orientation. OUT AT WORK chronicles the stories of a cook, an auto worker and a librarian as they seek workplace safety, job security and benefits for gay and lesbian workers.

GET INVOLVED! Represent PEFSA! Division of Diversity and Community Engagement (DDCE) cordially invites a representative from the Pride and Equity Faculty Staff Association to serve on the steering committee for the 26th Annual Heman Sweatt Symposium on Civil Rights. Steering committee responsibilities are to assist with one or more of the following: · publicity and promotions; · distribution of materials; · provide assistance at events of your choice; · secure volunteers. The level of commitment for committee members is at their discretion according to their availability. Foodies—Happiness Hour
When: 2nd Tuesday in February (yes, Valentine's Day), 6-8:30 ish Where: Hugo's (300 S. Lamar Blvd).
Foodies is for women who love women who love food. Stop by hang-out, snack, & chit n'chat. Foodies is open to all ages and all types.
LezzDance
When: February 18th, 6-10pm
Where: Rusty's (405 East 7th Street)
Cover: $5
Geared to a more mature audience the music ranges from 70's to current. LezzDance ends at 10pm when Rusty's returns to its country music format.
