Asian destinations have proven to be some of the most thought provoking of study abroad destinations. Places like China, Korea, and Vietnam are not traditional destinations although their popularity is growing every year. Typically, people who go to Asia comment on the cultural values that have been retained by each place. Common fears of studying abroad in Asia include language barriers and cultural differences. People selecting a destination in this area of the world should be open to expanding their horizons and understanding the culture more so than any other area of the world. In some cases, values American's hold true are not always held high by those in other other countries. Students are encouraged to go to Asia and learn about the fastest developing region in the world. What better reason to go other than the fact that there is a great amount of scholarships available!

Scholarships

There are many opportunities to get money to study abroad in Asia. Below are a few of the big scholarships that you can apply for to aid in your travels to Asia. To find out about more scholarship opportunities, ask an advisor at the International Office for details on program based scholarships or click here. Estimated cost of trips, including airfare and miscellaneous expenses, could range from 10,000 to 15,000 per long session. For information about college based scholarships ask your advisor for details.

Asian Studies Fellowship for Study Abroad

Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate standing
  • One year of prior Asian language study
  • Asian Studies major or minor
