Co-op GOES Awards & Provost Awards for Maymester and Summer Faculty-led Programs

The University Co-op supports University of Texas at Austin students through the very generous Co-op Global Opportunities in Education Awards (Co-op GOES) program. These monies combined with substantial funding from the Office of Executive Vice-President and Provost provide financial support toward the cost of participating in one of the exciting and innovative study abroad programs developed by UT. These study abroad programs and these awards have been initiated by the Office of the Executive Vice-President and Provost and the Study Abroad Office in close collaboration with various UT schools and colleges.

All students participating in a Maymester Abroad Program, and all students participating in select summer programs are eligible to apply for these Awards. However, priority will be given to undergraduate students applying for funding.

The deadline for Maymester participants wanting to apply for the scholarship will be November 1. Students will be notified of the scholarship committee's decision before the Thanksgiving holiday (approx. Nov. 23). However, actual monies will not be disbursed until after March.

The deadline for Summer participants wanting to apply for the scholarship will be February 15. Students will be notified of the scholarship committee's decision in early March. Monies are estimated to disburse in early April. Students should not count on these monies to pay for their summer program deposit.

Awards are based on merit and financial need. Award amounts range from $1000 - $5000.

The application will consist of a basic online application, a listing of your honors and awards, a bit of financial information about yourself and the program and a one page essay. Letters of recommendation are NOT required.

Essay Questions:
Describe explicitly how enrolling in the abroad program you have selected will enhance your education at UT Austin.
