International Education Fee Scholarships
In 1990, UT students elected to pay $1 each semester on their fee bill to collect money to support scholarships for students studying abroad and incoming international students. In 1994, UT students again voted to support international opportunities on campus and raised the fee from $1 to $3. Of the $3, one dollar is place in an endowment for future use and $2 per student are distributed annually to students.
Awards range from $1000 - $1500. Award announcements are made on April 1 and October 1 of each year.
For the summer 2008 competition there were 274 applicants, 46 students were awarded (17%). For the fall 2008 competition there were 101 applicants and 38 were awarded (38%).
The application consists of a basic online application, a listing of your honors and awards, a bit of information about your finances and the program you have selected as well as a one page essay. TWO letters of recommendation are required.
