UT Scholarships for Study Abroad
The following scholarships are sponsored by UT departments, colleges
or individuals associated with the university and are specific to students
seeking to study or conduct research abroad.
This information is provided primarily to assist undergraduate students,
however, some of the scholarships are open to graduate students as well.

All Maymester Abroad Program participants and Select Other UT Faculty Led Programs
should apply.

Dr. Ivy McQuiddy Scholarship
Every student going for the full academic year to a non traditional location should apply.
Deadline: October 1 and March 1
Amount: $1000 (one award given)

Additional Information: Bi-annual local competition. Competition for
study or research overseas. Awards are based both on merit and need.

Amount: At least $500 - usually 4-7 scholarships in varying amounts
from $500-1500 are given
Additional Information: Bi-annual UT competition sponsored by student
government
Natural Sciences Study Abroad Scholarships
Every NS student studying abroad on an EXCHANGE program should apply.
Three scholarships are available. One of the three will give preference
to students in Chemistry or Biochemistry
Amount: $3000 each
Students must participate in a year-long program offered through the Study Abroad Office
Students must study science courses in a language other than English
or their native language
Students must have a GPA of 3.5 or better. Among such students, decisions
will be made on the basis of financial need
Deadline: October 1 and March 1
Natural Sciences Summer Research Abroad Scholarships
Every NS seeking to conduct laboratory research abroad during the
summer should apply.
Two scholarships per summer.
Amount: $2000 each (awarded students must maintain registration with
UT while abroad).
Students must participate in a 12 week summer project conducting research
in a laboratory connected to a foreign university.
Strong priority will be given to students who go to a TASSEP
university.
Minor secondary preference will be given to students in physical (non-biological)
sciences.

Plan II Honors - Travel Grants
Every Plan II Honors student should apply
Plan II Scholarship Website

Award amounts typically range between $500 and $2000

Texas Ex Scholarship
For current UT students who are US citizens and have been accepted into an official UT study abroad program. Academic excellence and financial need will be considered. By March 1,applicants should email an additional one-page essay to moore@alumni.utexas.edu describing their study abroad program and reasons why they are studying abroad and why they should be considered for this scholarship. Send your essay as an attachment, making sure to include your name, EID and name of scholarship.
$1,450 will be awarded to one recipient

Ex-Students Association - Flying Longhorns Study Abroad Scholarship
All students should apply
Summer, fall and spring programs are eligible

One award of $600
For current UT students who are US citizens and have been accepted
into an official UT study abroad program. Academic excellence and financial
need will be considered. Applicants should email an additional one-page

Moore describing their study abroad program and reasons why they
are studying abroad and why they should be considered for this scholarship.
EUREKA - Undergraduate Research Fellowships
Student going abroad on a program with a major research component should
research this grant.
