PORTUGUESE LANGUAGE AND BRAZILIAN CULTURE
The program will be hosted by the well-respected Brazilian
American Cultural Association of Bahia (ACBEU). ACBEU is a
language school and cultural center where foreign students
study Portuguese and local Brazilians study English. ACBEU’s
centrally located Vitoria campus provides quick access to many
historical and cultural points of the city. The highly qualified
teachers, small teacher-to-student ratio classes, well-equipped
modern classrooms, library, art gallery and theater offer students
a unique learning environment. Cultural immersion is furthered
through homestays with selected local families from the surrounding
neighborhoods.
ACBEU faculty will teach all Portuguese language courses except
for the Luso-Brazilian literature course, which will be taught by
UT Department of Spanish and Portuguese faculty member Dr.
Sonia Roncador.
The academic program will be complemented by lectures and
guided excursion wilth local academics and cultural experts.
