Step 1: Complete the Online Information Session module on the Study Abroad website. To learn more specific information about the program please attend a Summer information session held by program faculty and staff.

Step 2: UT students need to be authorized to apply online. Please send an email with your UTEID to the Study Abroad Coordinator that is responsible for your program. If you have additional questions please email, call or stop by the International Office, Woolridge Hall, 600 West 24th Street, 2nd floor.

Cordoba

CÓRDOBA, ARGENTINA

THE DESTINATION

Argentina, the second largest country in Latin America, is known for its high quality of education in spite of enormous economic and political challenges.

Cordoba is situated at the center of Argentina, is a more manageable city of 1.5 million. Cordoba is an old university city with 130,000 students attending 4 universities giving the city an intense cultural life and providing a welcoming environment for international students. Founded in 1573 by the Spanish as a commercial and transportation hub for the region, the city quickly became prosperous. Its colonial buildings city grid and university atmosphere make it easy to navigate for students with just one year of college-level Spanish. Students will attend classes especially designed for the University of Texas at Austin at the prestigious La Universidad Nacional de Cordoba. Jesuits founded the university in 1613 and it is one of the oldest universities in the world.

The city has a European feel and is surrounded by beautiful ranch land and orchards. Heavy European immigration has given Argentina a worldly and a distinct national identity and German, Spanish and Italian immigrants founded many of the small towns. Ranching still allows for great horse breeding and the popularity of games played on horseback such as Polo and the native Pato. Eco-tourism grows yearly as people enjoy this area for its natural, diverse, and unspoiled beauty. Cordoba is convenient to the Andes skiing areas, especially Mendoza city. The mountainous inland, the famous Sierras, are dotted by small towns, rivers, lakes and resorts known for good fishing, sailing, hiking, cowboy and folk festivals. Students will be in Cordoba from May to August when the weather is sunny, dry and cooler, with the average high temperature in the mid 50’s and much colder at night.
