Step 1: Complete the Online Information Session module on the Study Abroad website. To learn more specific information about the program please attend a Summer information session held by program faculty and staff.

Step 2: UT students need to be authorized to apply online. Please send an email with your UTEID to the Study Abroad Coordinator that is responsible for your program. If you have additional questions please email, call or stop by the International Office, Woolridge Hall, 600 West 24th Street, 2nd floor.

HEALTH CARE IN MEXICO

Hospital Rotation in a teaching hospital(CUCS)

THE UNIVERSITY

Founded in 1792, the University of Guadalajara is the second largest university in Mexico. Its colleges, each specializing in a different area of study, are spread throughout the city and metropolitan region. HCiM students will take courses in two locations: the CEPE and the CUCS.

CEPE (Centro de Estudios Para Extranjeros)
CEPE is especially designed to train foreign students in Spanish language along with Mexican history, culture and literature. Language courses are taught at various levels to accommodate students of differing proficiencies. CEPE offers many amenities to foreign students, including a housing locator service, access to high-speed internet and on-campus snacks. This facility also offers organized weekend tours to various destinations in Mexico.

CUCS (Centro Universitario de Ciencas de la Salud)
This campus offers programs of study in medicine, public health, dentistry, nursing, psychology, nutrition and physical education. HCiM students take selected courses.

COSTS

ESTIMATED PROGRAM COST: $3600
The cost includes the $500 non-refundable deposit, meals and accommodation during
Component 1, two Spanish language courses at CEPE, a weekend excursion to Guanajuato*, and a local Guadalajara tour. Program fee also covers use of CUCS teaching services, onsite student affairs assistance and international health insurance.
*Optional CEPE excursions available for an extra charge.

*ALL students will need to pay a $50 application fee. This fee will be appear on student’s “What I Owe” page, along with other summer program costs.
