VILA DO CONDE, PORTUGAL
THE DESTINATION
Students live in Vila do Conde, a beautiful seaside
city with white sandy beaches, near the city of
Porto, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This program
is honored to acknowledge the important cooperation of the Town of Vila do Conde, its presidency and the Gabinete de Arqueologia.
Vila do Conde, an important Roman outpost, evolved into a fully modern city while still preserving its historical monuments and buildings. The earliest references to Vila do Conde date from 953AD. It was also an important monastic center during the Middle Ages and major ship-building and trade center during the Age of the Discoveries in the XV century.
Students will be housed in two apartments in the center of the city within very short walking distance of banks, ATM machines, restaurants, coffee shops, shopping centers and the beach.
Students will visit sites of archeological and cultural importance, as well as Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
