GETTING STARTED

Step 1: Complete the Online Information Session module on the Study Abroad website. To learn more specific information about the program please attend a Summer information session held by program faculty and staff.

Step 2: UT students need to be authorized to apply online. Please send an email with your UTEID to the Study Abroad Coordinator that is responsible for your program. If you have additional questions please email, call or stop by the International Office, Woolridge Hall, 600 West 24th Street, 2nd floor.

COURSES

The program begins with a two-day orientation that covers basic Czech language and culture. Students enroll in two courses for 6 hours of The University of Texas at Austin in-residence credit. All courses are taught in English. Students can select any course combination but may enroll in only one production course (either digital film or photography). Courses in Czech film studies and art history focus on the modern to contemporary periods.


Photography:

This social documentary photojournalism course takes Czech culture as its subject matter. Taught in English by UT Austin Department of Journalism faculty member Dennis Darling.
No prerequisites. All majors are encouraged to apply.

UT School of Journalism Professor Dennis Darling teaches the Documentary Photography course. He serves on the advisory board for the Texas Photographers Society and has been editor of the Journal of Texas Photographic Society. He has published two books of his work: "Desperate Pleasures" and "Chameleon With Camera."

Darling works worldwide as a freelance photographer. His work has been featured in a wide range of publications, including Fortune, Texas Monthly, American Photo, Popular Photography, American Way, Rolling Stone, Discovery Magazine and Modern Photography.
