Step 1: Complete the Online Information Session module on the Study Abroad website. To learn more specific information about the program please attend a Summer information session held by program faculty and staff.

Step 2: UT students need to be authorized to apply online. Please send an email with your UTEID to the Study Abroad Coordinator that is responsible for your program. If you have additional questions please email, call or stop by the International Office, Woolridge Hall, 600 West 24th Street, 2nd floor.

Step 3: Apply! UT students please visit My SAO to complete program requirements. Non UT students please click here for information on programs that are available.

Summer Session One: May 21 - July 2, 2009*

POR 604 - Accelerated First-Year Portuguese
Prerequisite: Two years of college-level Spanish or equivalent Spanish proficiency. Spanish proficiency or by consent of program faculty contact. Taught by ACBEU.

POR 612 - Accelerated Second-Year Portuguese
Prerequisite of POR 604, 508, or 407. Taught by ACBEU.

POR 312L- Second-Year Portuguese II
Prerequisite of POR 312K. Taught by ACBEU. To be taken with POR 318. Three credits.

POR 318 - Conversation and Composition
Prerequisite of 312k or 612. Taught by ACBEU. To be taken with POR 312L. Three credits.

POR 362 - Advanced Composition
Prerequisite: Portuguese 612 or 312L or 516.
Taught by UT Austin professor Vivian Flanzer.

POR 341 - Luso-Brazilian Civilization and Culture
Prerequisite: Portuguese 612 or 312L or 516.

COSTS*

ESTIMATED PROGRAM COST: $3800
The cost includes the $300 non-refundable deposit, all meals and housing with host families plus  study abroad health insurance and 24/7 emergency assistance.   City field trips  are also included in the program cost.  Additionally,students will be lent a cell phone but they will need to buy phone cards.

ESTIMATED ADDITIONAL EXPENSES
Students must buy their own roundtrip ticket to Brazil ( not included in program cost) which is estimated to be around $1,500 and pay for their medical clearance exam after acceptance ($40), any vaccinations and their international student ID card ($26) and passport if they have not obtained one already.  Passport costs are estimated to be around  $110.

**Miscellaneous expenses may include, but are not limited to, immunizations, city transportation, phone card usage charges (cell phone is provided) and personal entertainment.
