NUTRITION IN SEVILLE

Summer Session One - May 24 - July 6, 2008*
Students take the nutrition course and a second course in Spanish. Students will take a Spanish language placement exam after acceptance.
NTR 352 - Field Experience in Nutrition: Spain
Taught in English by UT faculty member Jeanne Freeland-Graves along with guest lecturers (in Spanish and English).
The 2008 program will emphasize food, nutrition and health in Spain. Tentative topics with lectures, activities and visits are proposed for food and culture, nutrition through the life cycle (pregnancy to aging), clinical nutrition and food service in hospitals, public health and community nutrition in low socio-economic areas, sports (soccer) nutrition, and food industries. Taught by UT professor. In-residence credit.
PREREQUISITE: NTR 311
SPN 312K - Second-Year Spanish I
Taught by the University of Seville. Affiliated transfer credit.
PREREQUISITE: SPN 604, 507, or 508K, with a grade of at least C, or an appropriate score on the University of Wisconsin College-Level Placement Test in Spanish.
SPN 312L - Second-Year Spanish II
Taught by the University of Seville. Affiliated transfer credit.
PREREQUISITE: SPN 312K with a grade of at least C, or an appropriate score on the University of Wisconsin College-Level Placement Test in Spanish.
SPN 350 - Advanced Spanish Civilization and Culture
Taught by the University of Seville . Affiliated transfer credit.
PREREQUISITE: SPN 612 OR 312L, or equivalent.

Estimated Program Cost: $4250
The program cost includes the $500 non-refundable acceptance deposit, onsite orientation and student services, accommodation and most meals (except lunch and dinner during weekend and excursions), two program excursions, and international health insurance.
