You're invited
The Office of Admissions at the University of Texas at Austin invites you to join us in Austin,
June 10-12, 2001 for three days of lively discussion at our annual Colloquium for Secondary School
Counselors. We are assembling a cross-section of counseling professionals from around the state to
explore the latest issues in undergraduate admission at the University.
The latest developments in admissions
At this year's colloquium, we will address the latest developments in admissions as we prepare to
consider applications from high school seniors who will enter college in 2002. Given the increasing
pool of qualified high school graduates, the impact of House Bill 588, and the increasing competition
for limited space in selected majors, the University faces critical changes and decisions. During the
colloquium we will provide participants with up-to-date information concerning these matters, and we
will seek discussion and feedback about these and other important concerns for Texas school counselors.
Our important relationship with you and your students
This year the colloquium will focus on the new provisional program changes, the
admissions review process, UT from the students' prospective, support services, and the student transition
from high school to college, as well as our important relationship with you and your students. We hope
that the information you gain from the colloquium will continue to help you throughout your counseling career.
Schedule
Our colloquium begins on Sunday afternoon, June 10. Check-in will take place from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in
the San Jacinto residence hall lobby, and our program will begin at 6:00 p.m. On Monday, we will conduct
sessions all day, and enjoy a relaxed social on Monday evening at the home of our Director of Admissions,
Dr. Bruce Walker. Sessions will continue on Tuesday morning, and we will conclude our program with lunch.
Checkout will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday.
No cost to attend
There is no cost to attend this program. Colloquium participants will be housed on
campus at no charge (double occupancy) in our new San Jacinto residence hall which includes private bathrooms,
ethernet connections in every room, telephones with free local service, as well as a convenience store, deli,
and grill located within the facility. All meals will be provided. Transportation to and from Austin will be
the responsibility of each participant. However, a limited number of travel stipends will be available to
counselors who have need.
Registration
