Graduate Readmission-How to Apply

  • Complete our online application for Graduate Readmission.
This is the fastest, easiest way for you to submit your application and is our preferred method for receiving applications.

You must have a current EID and password to complete the application; if you have forgotten either your EID or password, please contact the Graduate And International Admission Center by telephone at 512-475-7438 and a staff member will assist you.
  • Pay your application fee
Upon submission of the Application for Graduate Readmission you will be directed to the university’s “What I Owe” where you will be given the opportunity to pay your application fee by MasterCard, Discover Card or by eCheck.

You may also mail a check or money order, although this will delay the processing of your application. Make the check or money order payable to The University of Texas at Austin in U.S. dollars and mail to:

    Graduate and International Admissions Center
The University of Texas at Austin
    P.O. Box 7608
    Austin, Texas 78713-7608

Write your Application ID number or UT EID on your check or money order.

The application processing fee for graduate readmission is $50. Your application will not be processed unless the fee has been paid. The application fee is NOT refundable.

If you were granted a Leave of Absence by your department, the application fee will be automatically waived.

  • Submit official transcripts to GIAC
You must provide an official copy of the academic transcript from every senior college attended since your last enrollment at UT Austin. Unofficial transcripts--those that do not bear the facsimile signature of the registrar and seal of the issuing institution--are not acceptable. Photocopies (even notarized ones) are NOT considered official. Transcripts are not required from junior colleges and community colleges.

Even if courses taken at one institution are recorded on another college's transcript, transcripts must be submitted from the institution at which courses were taken. Transcripts must have been produce by the sending institution within the past calendar year.

You can speed the processing of your application by having your transcript(s) sent electronically. Institutions that are on the Texas Electronic Transcript Network or which use the national ANSI ASC X12 transcript format (SPEEDE) can provide electronic transcripts. GIAC prefers to receive electronic transcripts because they can be processed much faster than paper transcripts. Check with the registrar of your institution to find out if transcripts can be sent electronically.

  • BE SURE TO CONTACT THE PROGRAM TO WHICH YOU ARE APPLYING
Most programs have additional requirements and application materials which you must complete before they will consider your application for admission.
