Undergraduate Academic Performance

The average cumulative GPA for all undergraduates for the fall semester 2002 was 3.04.
The average cumulative GPA by class level was:

  • 2.98 — Freshman
  • 3.01 — Sophomore
  • 3.05 — Junior
  • 3.09 — Senior

Persistence and Graduation — Undergraduates

Relatively large percentages of first-time entering freshmen at UT Austin persist to the start of the sophomore year. Among the first-time freshmen who entered the University during the summer/fall 2002, 91.8 percent returned for the 2003 fall semester.

Consistent with national trends, less than half of the first-time freshmen who enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin graduated within four years. Of those who entered during 1997:

  • 41.7 percent graduated within four years
  • 67.4 percent graduated within five years
  • 70.5 percent graduated within six years
