The Career Exploration Center has two well-established internship programs. Each year they provide select students a profound opportunity for self-development and growth, both personally and professionally.
The Career Assistant Program
Career Assistants (CAs) are UT students who have been selected to provide career information and assistance to students. CAs receive extensive training in career development, graduate school planning, internship exploration and more. They utilize and develop both their interpersonal skills and their presentation skills to expand delivery of CEC services. CAs manage the CEC front desk, deliver outreach presentations and can be called upon to both initiate and implement special projects for the Center.
This is a paid internship and requires a 10-month commitment.
The Practicum Program
The CEC serves as a training site for masters and doctoral students who are interested in career development and are enrolled in a counseling-related program in the Austin area. Graduate students are selected by the CEC to receive extensive training and supervision while providing career counseling to UT undergraduate students.
This is a non-paid position, designed to meet the practicum/internship requirements of local graduate programs in Counseling, Psychology or Clinical Social Work.
