Find A Job
Do you feel like graduation is just around the corner and you don’t know what you’re going to do? Many students feel they don’t have time to conduct a job search until after they get their classes behind them. Others get a head start with on campus recruiting. Either way, the process will be much easier once you’ve taken the time to learn about two things: yourself and the world of work.
Already know what you want to do?
When it’s time to begin your job or internship search and you know what you want to do, we suggest you visit your college’s career services office.
Most career services offices at UT-Austin offer resume critiques, job search skills training, mock interviews, etiquette dinners and opportunities to interview with visiting recruiters. Their career advisors will have up-to-date information on job trends, employment outlook and recruiting activity on campus. They know that the job search process can be daunting, and they are happy to help you get started.
Need to start looking but not sure what you want?
If you need to look for a job, but don’t know what field or what you can do with your major, the CEC is the place to start. You can meet with a counselor at the CEC and meet with an advisor at your college’s career services office concurrently, to determine your direction and start looking for opportunities at the same time.
The counselors at the CEC will meet with any UT-Austin students, from first-year to senior, to doctoral candidates. It’s never too early nor too late.
