How To Sign Up For Career Testing
Career testing doesn't stand alone. It is part of the career counseling experience. The first step is to make an appointment with a career counselor to discuss the tests in light of where you are in your career decision making. Together, you and your counselor can decide which career tests may be most helpful for you.
Once you have identified the test(s) to take, our front desk staff will assist you with instructions on how to take the tests online. Once you pay for the tests, they will provide the URL and password to complete the instruments online. They will also set up the interpretation time for you to obtain your results (not applicable for SDS). See our calendar for available days and times when the weekly MBTI-SII workshops will be held.
You may pay for career tests by check, money order or credit card. Please make checks or money orders out to "UT Austin." Unfortunately we cannot accept cash or Bevo Bucks.
Test taking tips
- Try not to overanalyze. Answer the questions with your first response or what is true for you most of the time.
- Be honest. The test results will be more accurate if you answer truthfully about yourself.
- Many of these tests are "transparent," meaning it is easy to discern how your responses will affect the results. Simply answer based on who you are and not how you would like to be.
