How Groups Can Help:
For students who are interested in longer-term counseling, group counseling is the best option at the Counseling Center.Group therapy provides an opportunity for members to talk about their most important current concerns. UT Students consistently rate group therapy as very beneficial in solving problems and improving their lives and cite the feedback and support they receive from peers as the most helpful aspect of group counseling. If group therapy is appropriate for your situation, the counselor who first meets with you will discuss our various group offerings for this semester.

How to Become Part of a Group:
For most groups you must be referred by a counselor. If you have never been a client at the Counseling Center, you can schedule an initial consultation at the front desk. Most groups also require a pre-group interview with the leader or leaders. This will give you an opportunity to decide if that particular group is a good choice for you. Space in the groups is limited and students are encouraged to contact the Counseling Center early in the semester. Contact the Referral Office at 471-3515 to find out about any group to which you have been referred and to schedule a pre-group interview.
