ESL Services - Graduate Courses Credit Registration Cost If students take Communication for International Teaching Assistants as part of a full-time course load and receive tuition assistance, they will be reimbursed for the course as part of that benefit. If students take Oral Communication for International Students or Academic Writing for International Students to fulfill a J-bar requirement as part of a 9-hour course load, they must pay for the course themselves. However, if they are taking 9 hours in their department and this class puts them above 9 hours, they can apply for a scholarship in the ESL office to reimburse the cost of the course as long as they receive no other financial assistance. If their department is willing to pay for a course, students can bring a letter from the department with an IDT account number, or the department contact can send an email with the account information to mikesmith@austin.utexas.edu. Any questions about courses, credit, or cost can be directed via email to mikesmith@austin.utexas.edu. Communication for International Teaching Assistants
