How do I complete my application on-line?

• The application fee is $50 (non refundable) and you will be billed when you confirm your application.
• Payment must be received by January 24, 2013 for your application to be active.
• Use Discover, MasterCard, eCheck or Electronic Funds Transfer.
• Pay by cash or check in person at the Bursars office in the Main Building.

What should I do if I do not apply by January 24, 2013?

• Don't give up!
• Apply online after January 24, 2013.
• Space is offered based on availability.

What happens when I am offered a contract?

• Accept your contract and update your housing choices from your My Housing page beginning January 26, 2013.
• Accept the contract and pay the $300 non-refundable Advance Payment by February 8 at 4 p.m.
• Your housing choices must be updated before February 8. If you want to return to your current room, you must enter your building and room number as your housing choice. If you leave it blank you will NOT be able to return to the same room.

What if I can't afford to pay a $300 non-refundable Advance Payment in February?

• If you cannot pay the $300 advance payment by the February 8 at 4 p.m. deadline, your contract will automatically be cancelled. We do not accept payments after the deadline, so we encourage you to make plans now to pay the $300 advance payment by the deadline.
• One option is to obtain an emergency cash loan from the university.
• If your contract is cancelled but are still interested in living on campus, you may reactivate your application on your My Housing page. This will place you on the waitlist for housing. We offer housing contracts to students on the waitlist as space allows.

How do I get my current room for next year?

• Request your current room for next year at your My Housing page. While we do our best to honor student requests to stay in your current room, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate all requests.
• Students currently living in Littlefield are unable to request their current rooms for next year, as that hall is reserved strictly for freshmen women.
• All current residents are encouraged to find other current residents as roommates. Failure to find a current resident as your roommate may result in loss of your current room or choice of a new room. All current residents will be assigned together. If the roommate you are assigned to decides not to live on campus, you will be assigned a new roommate or you may be reassigned. We will continue to reassign current residents through the July freshmen room assignment process.

How are assignments made?

As a returning resident you have the privilege of receiving priority in your current room and building, provided that you list this as your first preference and meet all of the renewal deadlines. If you request a building other than your current building as your first preference, please note that the current residents of any buildings that you select will receive first priority. Additionally, please consider that 30% of the space in each building is allocated to upperclassmen, while the remaining space is reserved for first-time freshmen. Basically, your assignment to a building other than your current one is not guaranteed. Your assignment is dependent on the number of residents who decide to return to their current buildings and your original application date.

If you are not assigned to your preferred housing, you may request for reassignment, and we will do our best to reassign you to your preferred housing as space becomes available any time before check-in next year.

When do I get my building and room assignment?

• If you meet all of the renewal deadlines, your room assignment will be available on your My Housing page on February 22, 2013.
• If you do not meet all of the renewal deadlines, you will be placed on a waitlist for a housing contract. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to reach you with a housing contract, but if we are able to offer you a contract you may not receive your official assignment until mid-July.
• Between February 22 and April 5, you can request a room assignment change on line by updating your housing choices. Requests will be processed in original application date order.
• All residents, both new and returning, will receive a final room assignment email in July with check in information. Your room assignment can change based on request and upperclassmen being paired up.

I wasn't assigned to my preferred housing, so I requested for reassignment. When will I be reassigned to my preferred housing?

If you make a request for reassignment, and we are able to accommodate your request, you can receive your new assignment any time before check-in. Reassignments are based on availability and processed in application date order. If we are not able to accommodate your request, you will keep your current assignment.

What if I want to live in Honors Housing?

• Only Honors Hall residents are eligible to request a room in the Honors Halls. If you currently live in the Honors Halls, you will be given the option to request Honors Housing when you update your housing choices.
• If you do not currently live in Honors, but are interested in the Residential Honors program you can go to the My Housing page and indicate your interest in Honors. Students interested in living in the Honors Halls will be reviewed by the Honors Center.

What if I have a poor payment history or a poor disciplinary status with Housing and Food Service?

• If you have a Housing bar or a past due balance you will NOT be eligible to receive a contract.
• If you receive a contract and have a poor payment history or a poor disciplinary status, your contract will be cancelled at the sole discretion of the Division of Housing and Food Service.

What if I would like a single space?

• If you currently have a single, a single contract will be offered. Residents who live in a Littlefield single are not automatically offered a single contract.
• New single requests can be considered when you indicate your request with your contract housing choices online. Singles are offered based on availability and original date of application.

Should I verify my housing status after I receive my room assignment?

• Check your housing status on line throughout the summer. Your room assignment can change based on request and upperclassmen being paired up.
