A Bit of History

This building is named for Dr. Annie Webb Blanton who graduated from UT in 1899. Afterward, she served as a member of the faculty at North Texas State Normal College (currently University of North Texas) in Denton, TX. While serving in Denton, she became an active member of the Texas State Teachers Association and eventually was elected President of the organization. Blanton was the fourth building, the others being Littlefield, Andrews and Carothers, to surround a common courtyard and referred to as "The Quad."
