Get to Know...Environmental Specialist Meagan Jones.
How long have you worked in Food Service at the University of Texas at Austin?
I have been with DHFS as either a temporary Dietitian or Environmental Specialist for just about 2 years.
What were you doing prior to coming to DHFS?
After graduating from UT, I took a year off to work and travel in Australia and New Zealand.
What is your favorite thing to cook when you are at home?
Lots of things, but my new favorite recipe is a wild mushroom risotto.
What is your favorite thing to eat when you are Dining Here?
My favorite things are the spinach lasagna, all of the local, sustainable Farm Direct produce and anything from the bakery!
What is your favorite restaurant in Austin?
Too many favorites to choose: Madam Mam's for Thai, Clay Pit for Indian, Musashino for sushi, P. Terry's for a hamburger, 1886 Cafe & Bakery for brunch, Home Slice for pizza, Azul Tequila for Tex-Mex, I could go on and on.
When you are not at work, what do you like to do?
Spend time with my friends, try new restaurants, travel and explore all of the fun things our city has to offer!
Do you have any advice or tips for students, staff or visitors to the UT campus?
Get involved in all of the great opportunities we have on campus. Join an organization, visit the museums, see speakers from around the world and RECYCLE!!!
