Res Life CareersProfessional Staff Selection Process

Hall Coordinator(HC) Selection Process

STEP ONE
We review all application materials to verify that the required and preferred qualifications have been met by the candidate.

STEP TWO
We arrange an initial interview with candidates who meet our qualifications (preference is given to those who meet our preferred qualifications). This interview can be at one of the placement conferences that we are attending this year (see how to meet with us/conference participation page), or via a phone interview.

STEP THREE
We invite candidates who make it to this round to on-campus group visit days. During this time, candidates have the chance to interact with our current Residence Life staff through several formal and informal opportunities. Candidates will have individual interviews with student leaders, Hall Coordinators, Area Managers, and the Associate Director for Residence Life. During the stay, candidates will have the chance to experience beautiful Austin, TX and The University of Texas at Austin, the flagship campus of the UT System. Candidates will benefit from having other candidates around to hear their questions and meet future colleagues as well as individual one-on-one time to be sure that all of their questions are answered. The ability to bring more candidates to campus in a shorter period of time allows us to make faster hiring decisions and affords candidates quicker understanding of where they are in the process.

STEP FOUR
References are checked for candidates who move on in our process from Step Three. Athough this is our normal procedure, references may be checked at any point in the process. It is our practice to conduct a thorough reference check. We will check references provided by candidates as well as references off of the provided reference list.

STEP FIVE
Following On-Campus Group Visitation Days, hiring decisions will be made based on knowledge, skills and experience. All candidates will be contacted after decisions are made.

Campus Interview Travel Policy: We ask candidates invited in for campus interviews to make their own travel arrangements while coordinating with the Professional Staff Selection Committee on arrival and departure dates and times. We reimburse the travel in full if we offer a position and the offer is accepted, or if we don't offer a position. We reimburse one-half of the travel if we offer and the offer is declined.
