Adult Education
General Educational Development (GED) classes and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes are available to interested employees.

Mediation/Conflict Resolution
Facilitate conflict management through mediation and group facilitation. Intervenes in a conflict with the consent of the disputants and assists them in negotiating a consensual and informed agreement. The role of the mediator(s) involves assisting the disputants in defining and clarifying issues, reducing obstacles to communication, exploring possible solutions, and reaching a mutually satisfactory agreement.

New Employees
All new employees will attend the Division Employee Orientation. The goal of this orientation is to provide information and strategies to assist new employees in succeeding both professionally and personally in the Division of Housing and Food Service at The University of Texas at Austin. Our orientation is designed to orient new employees to the ?organizational culture?of our organization. Topics covered are communication, diversity, ethics, harassment and inappropriate workplace behavior, organizational policies and procedures, and teamwork.
Orientation must be completed no later than thirty days after beginning work in the division.
New employees are required to complete Compliance Training within thirty days of employment.

Professional Development
ODD coordinates opportunities for employees to continue their professional development through workshops, conferences, and seminars.
