  • JULY 20 TUESDAY. Registration fee bills for the fall semester mailed to students.
    AUGUST 11 WEDNESDAY. Payment deadline for students who registered for the fall semester by July 16. Tuition may be paid in full or in installments.
    AUGUST 13-18 FRIDAY-WEDNESDAY. International student orientation--new students only.
    AUGUST 17 TUESDAY. Orientation and testing begin.

    Fall Semester 1999

    AUGUST 19-20 THURSDAY-FRIDAY. Registration for the fall semester for new and readmitted students who have not yet registered; to complete registration, fees must be paid no later than 5:00 pm on August 24.
    AUGUST 20 FRIDAY. University residence halls open at 9:00 am.
    AUGUST 22 SUNDAY. Add/drop for the fall semester for students who registered and paid their fees by August 11.
    AUGUST 23 MONDAY. Registration for the fall semester for continuing students who have not yet registered; to complete registration, fees must be paid no later than 5:00 pm on August 24.

    University Health Services benefits become available to all students.

    AUGUST 24 TUESDAY. Add/drop for the fall semester for students who registered and paid their fees by August 11.

    Deadline for graduate students to be registered in absentia for the fall semester.

    Fee bills for students who registered after July 16 due no later than 5:00 pm.

    AUGUST 25 WEDNESDAY. Classes begin.
    AUGUST 30 MONDAY. Last day of the official add/drop period; after this date, changes in registration require the approval of the chairman and usually the student's dean. (See General Information, chapter 4, for required approvals.)

    Last day undergraduate students may register without the approval of the registrar.

    Last day graduate students may register and pay fees without the approval of the graduate dean.

    SEPTEMBER 6 MONDAY. Labor Day holiday.
    SEPTEMBER 10 FRIDAY. Twelfth class day; this is the date the official enrollment count is taken.

    Last day an undergraduate student may add a course except for rare and extenuating circumstances.

    Payment for added courses (add bill) due.

    Last day to drop a course for a possible refund. (See General Information, chapter 4, for required approvals.)

    Last day a graduate student may, with the required approvals, add a course.

    SEPTEMBER 13 MONDAY. Last day to apply for a graduate degree.
    SEPTEMBER 22 WEDNESDAY. Last day to drop a course without a possible academic penalty. (See General Information, chapter 4, for required approvals.)

    Second tuition installment payment due for students who selected the three-payment plan.

    SEPTEMBER 30 THURSDAY. Priority date for student financial aid applications for the spring semester.
    OCTOBER 1 FRIDAY. Application deadline for Study Abroad Program for the spring semester.
    OCTOBER 7 THURSDAY. International Education Fee (IEF) Scholarship competition for the spring semester begins.
    OCTOBER 13 WEDNESDAY. Intrasemester reports due in the deans' offices.
    OCTOBER 20 WEDNESDAY. Last day an undergraduate student may, with the dean's approval, withdraw from the University or drop a course except for urgent and substantiated, nonacademic reasons.

    Last day a student may change registration in a course to or from the pass/fail or credit/no credit basis.

    Last day to apply for an undergraduate degree.

    Last day an undergraduate student or a law student may register in absentia.

    OCTOBER 21-22, 25-27 THURSDAY-FRIDAY, MONDAY-WEDNESDAY. Academic advising for continuing and readmitted students for the spring semester.
    OCTOBER 25 - NOVEMBER 6 MONDAY-SATURDAY (two weeks, excluding Sunday). Registration for the spring semester for continuing and readmitted students.
    OCTOBER 27 WEDNESDAY. Final tuition installment payment due for students who selected the three-payment plan.
    NOVEMBER 9 TUESDAY. Registration fee bills for the spring semester mailed to students.
    NOVEMBER 12 FRIDAY. Deadline for master's degree candidates to have all incompletes removed from their Programs of Work; grade change forms must be submitted by instructors to the Office of Graduate Studies by this date.
    NOVEMBER 25-27 THURSDAY-SATURDAY. Thanksgiving holidays.
    DECEMBER 3 FRIDAY. Last class day.

    Last day to submit master's report, thesis, doctoral dissertation, or treatise to the graduate dean.

    Last day a graduate student may, with the approval of the instructor, the graduate advisor, and the graduate dean, drop a course.

    DECEMBER 4 SATURDAY. Reading day in the School of Law.
    DECEMBER 4-5 SATURDAY-SUNDAY. Fall graduation ceremonies in the colleges and schools.
    DECEMBER 6-7, 12 MONDAY-TUESDAY, SUNDAY. No-class days.
    DECEMBER 6-11, 13-18 MONDAY-SATURDAY, MONDAY-SATURDAY. Fall semester final examinations in the School of Law.
    DECEMBER 8 WEDNESDAY. Payment deadline for students who registered for the spring semester. Tuition may be paid in full or in installments.
    DECEMBER 8-11, 13-14 WEDNESDAY-SATURDAY, MONDAY-TUESDAY. Fall semester final examinations except in the School of Law.
