July 22 Tuesday	Registration fee bills for the fall semester mailed to students.
August 13 Wednesday	Payment deadline for students who registered for the fall semester by July 18. Tuition may be paid in full or in installments.

Fall Semester 1997
August 21-22 Thursday-Friday	Registration for the fall semester for new and readmitted students who have not yet registered; to complete registration, fees must be paid no later than 5:00 pm on August 26.
August 22 Friday	University residence halls open at 9:00 am.
August 24 Sunday	Add/drop for the fall semester for students who registered and paid their fees by August 13.
August 25 Monday	Registration for the fall semester for continuing students who have not yet registered; to complete registration, fees must be paid no later than 5:00 pm on August 26. University Health Services benefits become available to all students.
August 26 Tuesday	Add/drop for the fall semester for students who registered and paid their fees by August 13. Deadline for graduate students to be registered in absentia for the fall semester.
August 27 Wednesday	Classes begin.
September 1 Monday	Labor Day holiday.
September 2 Tuesday	Last day of the official add/drop period; after this date, changes in registration require the approval of the chairman and usually the student's dean. (See General Information, chapter 4, for required approvals.) Last day undergraduate students may register without the approval of the registrar. Last day graduate students may register and pay fees without the approval of the vice president and dean of graduate studies.
September 3 Wednesday	Last day to apply for a graduate degree.
September 12 Friday	Twelfth class day; this is the date the official enrollment count is taken. Last day an undergraduate student may add a course except for rare and extenuating circumstances. September 30 Tuesday	Priority date for student financial aid applications for the spring semester.
October 15 Wednesday	Intrasemester reports due in the deans' offices.
October 22 Wednesday	Last day an undergraduate student may, with the dean's approval, withdraw from the University or drop a course except for urgent and substantiated, nonacademic reasons. Last day a student may change registration in a course to or from the pass/fail or credit/no credit basis. Last day to apply for an undergraduate degree. Last day an undergraduate student or a law student may register in absentia.
October 23-24, 27-29 Thursday-Friday, Monday-Wednesday	Academic advising for continuing and readmitted students for the spring semester.
October 27- November 8 Monday-Saturday (two weeks, excluding Sunday).	Registration for the spring semester for continuing and readmitted students.
October 29 Wednesday	Final tuition installment payment due for students who selected the three-payment plan.
November 11 Tuesday	Registration fee bills for the spring semester mailed to students. Deadline for master's degree candidates to have all incompletes removed from their programs of work; grade change forms must be submitted by instructors to the Office of Graduate Studies by this date.
November 27-29 Thursday-Saturday	Thanksgiving holidays.
December 5 Friday	Last class day. Last day a graduate student may, with the approval of the instructor, the graduate adviser, and the vice president and dean of graduate studies, drop a course. Last day to submit master's report, thesis, doctoral dissertation, or treatise to the vice president and dean of graduate studies.
December 6 Saturday	Reading day in the School of Law.
December 6-7 Saturday-Sunday	Fall graduation ceremonies in the colleges and schools.
December 8-9, 14 Monday-Tuesday, Sunday	No-class days.
December 8-13, 15-19 Monday-Saturday, Monday-Friday	Fall semester final examinations in the School of Law.
