Exemption from Fees

Fee exemptions are issued only for the period in which a student is currently enrolled; therefore, applications must be submitted no later than commencement day at the end of the spring semester or the official graduation date at the end of the summer session or fall semester. Detailed information about fee exemptions is in the table that begins below.

Accredited School Scholarship
Eligibility	Highest ranking graduate of an accredited Texas high school

AFDC students
Eligibility	Texas high school graduate Texas resident Enrollment in college within twelve months after high school graduation Age less than 22 years at the time of enrollment During last year of high school, receipt of financial assistance under Chapter 31, Human Resources Code (AFDC), for not less than six months

Blind and deaf students

Children of Texas veterans
Eligibility	Children of members of the armed forces who were killed in action or whose death is documented to be directly caused by illness or injury related to service in the armed forces in World War II, the Korean Conflict, the Cold War (February 1, 1955, to present), the Vietnam era (December 21, 1961, to May 7, 1975), the Grenada and Lebanon era (August 24, 1982, to July 31, 1984), or the Persian Gulf War (August 2, 1990, to present), and children of members of the Texas National Guard killed since January 1, 1946, while on active duty Must have resided in the state at least 12 months immediately preceding date of registration Not eligible for federal education benefits Must not be in default on a federal or state loan granted or guaranteed for educational purposes
