Human Resource Development Leadership

Degree Offered

Master of Arts

Facilities for Graduate Work

Students in human resource development leadership have access to research facilities in both the Graduate School of Business and the College of Education. The Perry-Castaneda Library has extensive holdings and offers a range of bibliographic services; it is complemented by specialized collections like the Tarlton Law Library and the Wasserman Public Affairs Library, which houses government publications. Computing facilities are readily available. Students can also take advantage of many research centers like the Center for International Business Education and Research and the Center for Customer Insight.

Areas of Study

The master's degree program is designed for midcareer human resource, human resource development, and training managers and for human resource consultants. With coursework in both the Graduate School of Business and the College of Education, it is intended to give students both the theoretical knowledge and the practical skills needed to become full strategic partners in managing their firms. Classes meet on Saturdays to allow participants to continue full-time employment; three one-week seminars are also integrated into the required curriculum. Students follow a cohort system that encourages peer interaction, promotes teamwork, and simulates an organization's work environment.

Students may also study human resource development as a concentration within the Master of Arts with a major in curriculum and instruction.

Admission Requirements

Admission decisions are based on each applicant's academic and professional qualifications. The applicant must meet the general requirements for admission to the Graduate School and must complete an interview with program faculty members. Applicants who do not meet the customary requirements will be considered if their credentials indicate that they have a good chance of succeeding in graduate study.
