Master of Arts Students in human resource development have access to research facilities in both the Graduate School of Business and the College of Education. The Perry-Castaneda Library has extensive holdings and offers a range of bibliographic services; it is complemented by specialized collections like the Tarlton Law Library and the Wasserman Public Affairs Library, which houses government publications. Computing facilities are readily available. Students can also take advantage of many research centers like the Center for International Business Education and Research. The program has close relationships with many public- and private-sector organizations that provide field experiences and research opportunities. The master's degree program is designed for midcareer human resource, human resource development, and training managers and for professional human resource consultants. With coursework in both the Graduate School of Business and the College of Education, it is intended to give students both the theoretical knowledge and the practical skills needed to manage and lead an organization in human resource development. Classes meet on Saturdays to allow participants to continue full-time employment; three one-week seminars are also required. Students follow a cohort system that encourages peer interaction, promotes teamwork, and simulates a real-world work environment. Students may also study human resource development as a concentration within the Master of Arts with a major in curriculum and instruction. Admission decisions are based on each applicant's academic and professional qualifications. The applicant must meet the general requirements for admission to the Graduate School and must complete an interview with program faculty members. Applicants who do not meet the customary requirements will be considered if their credentials indicate that they have a good chance of succeeding in graduate study.
Master of ArtsStudents must complete thirty-six semester hours of coursework, including a report. Eighteen of the thirty-six hours are taken in the Graduate School of Business; the remaining hours, including the report, are taken in the College of Education.
