Mirabeau B. Lamar

Where liberty has arisen, learning must be cherished--or liberty itself becomes a fragile thing.

The Catalog of the University of Texas at Austin

The catalog of the University comprises four issues: General Information, The Undergraduate Catalog, The Graduate Catalog, and The Law School Catalog Each issue is available from the Office of the Registrar.

The Undergraduate Catalog is published in July of even-numbered years; The Graduate Catalog is published in July of odd-numbered years; The Law School Catalog is published in January of even-numbered years. These issues contain regulations and degree requirements that apply to undergraduates, graduate students, and students in the School of Law. Regulations are valid only for the period given on the title page; for an explanation of the period for which degree requirements are valid, see "Graduation under a Particular Catalog" in each issue. The list of courses to be offered in the following sessions is preliminary and is superseded by the Course Schedule, published each semester and summer session.

General Information, published every July, contains current and historical information about the University and regulations that apply to all students during the academic year given on the title page. General Information is meant to be used along with each of the other issues; each student must be familiar with the regulations given there and with those given in the issue that covers his or her degree program.

The catalog of the University is the document of authority for all students. Any academic unit may issue additional or more specific information that is consistent with approved policy. The information in the catalog supersedes that issued by any other unit if there is a conflict between the two. The University reserves the right to change the requirements given in the catalog at any time.

Catalogs may be ordered by writing to the Office of the Registrar, The University of Texas at Austin, Austin, Texas 78712-1157 or by calling (512) 475-7555.
