Academic Calendar of the University of Texas at Austin



MAY 23 TUESDAY. Registration and fee bill payment for students in the School of Law.

Classes begin in the School of Law for first-term two- and three-hour courses, whole-session four-hour courses, and clinics.

MAY 26 FRIDAY. Fourth class day in the School of Law; this is the date the official enrollment count is taken in the School of Law.
MAY 29 MONDAY. Memorial Day holiday.
MAY 30-JUNE 1 TUESDAY-THURSDAY. Add/drop for the summer session for students who have registered and paid their fees.
JUNE 3 SATURDAY. Summer residence halls open at 9:00 am.
JUNE 5 MONDAY. University Health Services benefits become available to all students.
JUNE 5-6 MONDAY-TUESDAY. Registration for the summer session. Students who register on June 5-6 will register for all courses to be taken during the summer session; to complete registration, fees must be paid no later than 5:00 pm on June 6.
JUNE 7 WEDNESDAY. Classes begin except in the School of Law.
JUNE 8 THURSDAY. Last day of the official add/drop period except in the School of Law; after this date, changes in registration require the approval of the chairman and usually the student's dean. (See General Information, chapter 4, for required approvals.)
JUNE 12 MONDAY. Fourth class day except in the School of Law; this is the date the official enrollment count is taken.

Last day an undergraduate student may add a course except for rare and extenuating circumstances.

Payment for added courses (add bill) due.

Last day to drop a course for a possible refund.

Last day a graduate student may, with the required approvals, add a course.

JUNE 14 WEDNESDAY. Registration for the fall semester for students who entered the University for the first time in the current summer session.

Last day to apply for a graduate degree.

JUNE 20 TUESDAY. Last class day for first-term two-hour courses in the School of Law.

Last day to drop a course without a possible academic penalty. (See General Information, chapter 4, for required approvals.)

JUNE 21 WEDNESDAY. Reading day for first-term two-hour courses in the School of Law.
JUNE 22-23 THURSDAY-FRIDAY. Final examinations for first-term two-hour courses in the School of Law.
JUNE 27 TUESDAY. Last class day for first-term three-hour courses in the School of Law.

Last day a student may change registration in a course to or from the pass/fail or credit/no credit basis.

JUNE 28 WEDNESDAY. Reading day for first-term three-hour courses in the School of Law.
JUNE 28-30, JULY 3 WEDNESDAY-FRIDAY, MONDAY. No classes for whole-session four-hour courses in the School of Law.
JUNE 29-30, JULY 3 THURSDAY-FRIDAY, MONDAY. Final examinations for first-term three-hour courses in the School of Law.
JULY 4 TUESDAY. Independence Day holiday.
JULY 5 WEDNESDAY. Classes begin in the School of Law for second-term two- and three- hour courses.
JULY 12 WEDNESDAY. Last class day for first-term courses except in the School of Law.

Last day to drop a first-term course. (See General Information, chapter 4, for required approvals.)

JULY 13-14 THURSDAY-FRIDAY. Final examinations for first-term courses except in the School of Law. No classes for nine-week or whole-session courses except in the School of Law.
JULY 14 FRIDAY. Registration for students enrolling for the second term only; to complete registration, fees must be paid no later than 5:00 pm.
JULY 17 MONDAY. Classes begin for second-term courses except in the School of Law.
JULY 18 TUESDAY. Last day of the official add/drop period for the second term except in the School of Law; after this date, changes in registration require the approval of the chairman and usually the student's dean. (See General Information, chapter 4, for required approvals.)
JULY 20 THURSDAY. Fourth class day except in the School of Law; this is the date the official enrollment count is taken for second-term courses.

JULY 27-28, 31 THURSDAY-FRIDAY, MONDAY. Final examinations for whole-session four-hour courses in the School of Law.
JULY 28 FRIDAY. Last day to drop a second-term course without a possible academic penalty. (See General Information, chapter 4, for required approvals.)
AUGUST 1 TUESDAY. Last class day for nine-week courses except in the School of Law.

Last class day for second-term two- and three-hour courses in the School of Law.

Last class day for clinics in the School of Law.

AUGUST 2 WEDNESDAY. Reading day for second-term two- and three-hour courses in the School of Law.
AUGUST 2-3 WEDNESDAY-THURSDAY. Final examinations for nine-week courses except in the School of Law.
AUGUST 3-4, 7-8 THURSDAY-FRIDAY, MONDAY-TUESDAY. Final examinations for second-term two- and three-hour courses in the School of Law.
AUGUST 4 FRIDAY. Last day a student may change registration in a second-term course to or from the pass/fail or credit/no credit basis.
AUGUST 18 FRIDAY. Last class day for second-term and whole-session courses except in the School of Law.

Last day to submit master's report, thesis, doctoral dissertation, or treatise to the graduate dean.

Last day to drop a second-term or whole-session course.

AUGUST 19, 21 SATURDAY, MONDAY. Final examinations for second-term and whole-session courses except in the School of Law.
AUGUST 21 MONDAY. Official graduation date. (No public exercises.)
AUGUST 22 TUESDAY. Summer residence halls close at 9:00 am.
