SUMMER SESSION 1998

MAY 25 MONDAY. Memorial Day holiday.
MAY 26 TUESDAY. Registration and fee bill payment for students in the School of Law.
MAY 26-28 TUESDAY-THURSDAY. Add/drop for the summer session for students who have registered and paid their fees.
MAY 27 WEDNESDAY. Classes begin in the School of Law for first-term two- and three-hour courses, whole-session four-hour courses, and clinics.
MAY 29 FRIDAY. Summer residence halls open at 9:00 am.
JUNE 1 MONDAY. University Health Services benefits become available to all students.

Fourth class day in the School of Law; this is the date the official enrollment count is taken in the School of Law.

JUNE 1-2 MONDAY-TUESDAY. Registration for the summer session. Students who register on June 1-2 will register for all courses to be taken during the summer session; to complete registration, fees must be paid no later than 5:00 pm on June 2.
JUNE 3 WEDNESDAY. Classes begin except in the School of Law.
JUNE 4 THURSDAY. Last day of the official add/drop period except in the School of Law; after this date, changes in registration require the approval of the chairman and usually the student's dean. (See General Information, chapter 4, for required approvals.)

Last day to apply for a graduate degree.

JUNE 8 MONDAY. Fourth class day except in the School of Law; this is the date the official enrollment count is taken.

Last day an undergraduate student may add a course except for rare and extenuating circumstances.

Payment for added courses (add bill) due.

Last day to drop a course for a possible refund.

Last day a graduate student may, with the required approvals, add a course.

JUNE 10 WEDNESDAY. Registration for the fall semester for students who entered the University for the first time in the current summer session.
JUNE 16 TUESDAY. Last day to drop a course without a possible academic penalty. (See General Information, chapter 4, for required approvals.)
JUNE 23 TUESDAY. Last day a student may change registration in a course to or from the pass/fail or credit/no credit basis.

Last class day for first-term two-hour courses in the School of Law.

JUNE 24 WEDNESDAY. Reading day for first-term two-hour courses in the School of Law.
JUNE 25-26 THURSDAY-FRIDAY. Final examinations for first-term two-hour courses in the School of Law.
JUNE 30 TUESDAY. Last class day for first-term three-hour courses in the School of Law.
JULY 1 WEDNESDAY. Reading day for first-term three-hour courses in the School of Law.
JULY 1-3, 6 WEDNESDAY-FRIDAY, MONDAY. No classes for whole-session four-hour courses in the School of Law.
JULY 2-3, 6 THURSDAY-FRIDAY, MONDAY. Final examinations for first-term three-hour courses in the School of Law.
JULY 7 TUESDAY. Last class day for first-term courses except in the School of Law.

Last day to drop a first-term course. (See General Information, chapter 4, for required approvals.)

Classes begin in the School of Law for second-term two- and three-hour courses.

JULY 8-9 WEDNESDAY-THURSDAY. Final examinations for first-term courses except in the School of Law. No classes for nine-week and whole-session courses except in the School of Law.
JULY 9 THURSDAY. Registration for students enrolling for second term only; to complete registration, fees must be paid no later than 5:00 pm.
JULY 10 FRIDAY. Classes begin for second-term courses except in the School of Law.

JULY 28-29 TUESDAY-WEDNESDAY. Final examinations for nine-week courses except in the School of Law.
JULY 29-31 WEDNESDAY-FRIDAY. Final examinations for whole-session four-hour courses in the School of Law.
JULY 31 FRIDAY. Last day a student may change registration in a second-term course to or from the pass/fail or credit/no credit basis.
AUGUST 3 MONDAY. Last class day for second-term two- and three-hour courses in the School of Law.

Last class day for clinics in the School of Law.

AUGUST 4 TUESDAY. Reading day for second-term two- and three-hour courses in the School of Law.
AUGUST 5-7, 10 WEDNESDAY-FRIDAY, MONDAY. Final examinations for second-term two- and three-hour courses in the School of Law.
AUGUST 13 THURSDAY. Last class day for second-term and whole-session courses except in the School of Law.

Last day to submit master's report, thesis, doctoral dissertation, or treatise to the graduate dean.

Last day to drop a second-term or whole-session course.

AUGUST 14-15 FRIDAY-SATURDAY. Final examinations for second-term and whole-session courses except in the School of Law.
AUGUST 15 SATURDAY. Official graduation date. (No public exercises.)
AUGUST 16 SUNDAY. Summer residence halls close at 9:00 am.
