Peer Academic Coach Appointments
Peer Academic Coaching matches interested students with a trained peer coach for ongoing advice on how to study effectively for UT courses. Participants typically meet once a week for an hour with their peer coach for the duration of a semester and the cost of the program is currently covered by the UT Learning Center.
Session content varies based on participants' interests, but common topics include knowing how to study, managing your time, reading efficiently and taking notes, preparing for and taking tests, maximizing memory, setting goals and self-motivating, and using campus resources to get the academic results you desire.
Since the program began in 2002, participant feedback has been very positive and last semester's students rated the program 6.9 on a 7-point scale in terms of overall value. Peer coaches are certified by the College Reading and Learning Association and supervised by professional educators.
