Darcy Barrick, M.A.

Ms. Barrick is Assistant Director at the UT Learning Center. She also serves as Program Director of the Academic Counseling Services team where her responsibilities include training learning specialists for academic counseling duties, supervising a team of undergraduate peer academic coaches, and chairing the agency's professional development committee. She takes private appointments on topics such as academic/test anxiety, language learning, and ESL issues and has taught Secrets of Academic Success, GRE Verbal Prep, and Situational English for International Students.
Darcy received two degrees from the University of Texas at Austin: a B.A. in Plan II and an M.A. in Education, each with an emphasis in foreign language. While in graduate school, she studied at Institut de Touraine in France and at Université Laval in Canada. Prior to joining the UT Learning Center staff in 2000, she supervised UT student teachers and teaching interns in AISD schools for the College of Education and taught at the secondary level, four years in the U.S. and one in Japan. Since joining the staff, Darcy has held positions in Developmental Reading and Writing, Supplemental Instruction, and Peer Academic Coaching in addition to Academic Counseling Services.
In her free time, Darcy enjoys traveling, brunching at Casa de Luz, indulging in live music at Threadgill's or the Cactus Café, and supporting Austin's Miracle Foundation.
