Established in Fall 2003, the Graduate Student Writing Service welcomes any UT Austin graduate student to take advantage of our individualized writing consultations across all disciplines. Our staff of highly trained graduate student consultants is qualified to offer help with writing in all disciplines and at all levels. Students may bring in any writing project, ranging from a fellowship application or C.V. to an article for publication, a master's thesis, or even a dissertation.
Our mission is to help graduate students become independent, confident writers. In accordance with our mission and with University policies regarding academic integrity, we do not proofread or edit papers. Nor do we predict grades or guarantee better grades. Rather, we concentrate on you as a writer, and provide expert advice to help you improve your skills and capitalize on your strengths as a writer. We can assist you in enhancing your style and professionalism as a writer, whether your audience be a graduate seminar, a professional conference, or an academic journal.
Graduate Student Writing Services are offered by appointment only. Interested students must visit our main office in JES A332A, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., to register. At that time, you will receive more information about this service, as well as information about how to book appointments with a writing consultant online at your convenience.
Upon registration, you will be awarded 5 free credits - equal to five sessions with a consultant (sessions are approximately 45-50 minutes). Subsequent appointments may be booked for the nominal fee of $13.50 per session (payable through BevoBucks only).
