How do I get a UT Tutor?
The Appointment Tutoring program provides individual tutoring by appointment in mainly entry-level, lower-division courses. One-to-one appointment is the only service for which there is a nominal fee. If you meet a certain financial need level (the same need level used to determine your financial aid status), you may qualify for free tutoring through a UT Learning Center-funded program. There are also several campus programs which may assist you in paying for tutoring. These programs include Longhorn Scholars, the Gateway Program, and the Achieving College Excellence Program (ACE). These programs typically have requirements or restrictions to qualify for free tutoring. In most cases, the UT Learning Center front office staff can tell you if you are eligible for free tutoring through the UT Learning Center-funded program; you will need to check with the other programs to determine your eligibility for assistance from them.
Students requesting tutoring should first come to the UT Learning Center main office in Jester A332A to register for the appropriate service. Making an appointment with a UT Learning Center tutor is easy and convenient. After an initial visit to the Center, students can make tutoring appointments from the convenience of their home computer, or should they prefer, from any computer with Internet access. If neither of these is feasible, then the staff at the Learning Center will be happy to arrange appointments for students.
