Graduate Assistantship for Leadership Programming
Coordinator for the LeaderShape® Institute (Filled for 2007-2008)

The McCombs School of Business will host the fourth annual PepsiCo Foundation LeaderShape® Institute, a six day retreat, (see information below) for sixty Business students, occurring in January the week prior to the beginning of the spring semester and over spring break. The Undergraduate Program Office is seeking a Program Coordinator to begin mid August 2007, ending approximately May 2008. Preference will be given to Masters level students in the Educational Administration Program at UT. The Program Coordinator will work with the LeaderShape® National office, corporate sponsors, the planning team in the McCombs School, cluster leaders, facilitators and participants. Although the lead facilitators from LeaderShape® conduct the workshop, the Program Coordinator manages all logistics including: the site, funding, budget, marketing, participant communication, selecting cluster facilitators, working with the lead facilitators from the LeaderShape® Institute, and many additional areas.

The Program Coordinator will be supervised by and work closely with the Student Affairs Coordinator, as well as the Director for Student Affairs. This position will be housed in the Undergraduate Programs Office, CBA 2.400, and be the on-site coordinator the week of the Institute.

Additional professional development opportunities, depending on areas of interest and needs of the office, may include: special events, freshman interest groups, alumni programs etc. but the primary function will be to coordinate LeaderShape®. Our goal is to give the person a well-rounded experience.

The Program Coordinator should:
• be detail oriented
• have an understanding of leadership programs and student development
• have some budget experience
• be able to work independently
• have the ability to multi-task
• be able to work with multiple entities
• be open to guidance.

Hours and salary: Up to twenty hours per week dependent on work load. Monthly gross salary $1,000 plus benefits (pending budget approval).

This is an excellent opportunity to work with the academic arm of the University in a student affairs capacity, side by side with higher education trained professionals.
LeaderShape® Inc. is an interactive, energizing and unique experience that builds leadership skills no other program can match. Since 1986, approximately 24,000 participants from all over the world have graduated from the program. It is six days of non-stop self-discovery and learning from practical experiences that build leadership concepts and abilities. The LeaderShape® Institute develops participants to "lead with integrity."
The curriculum incorporates current leadership issues in such a way as to meet the developmental needs of young adults.

The curriculum focuses on "take-home application" through the vehicle of a comprehensive and powerful LeaderShape® Project. By working through the project, each participant has an opportunity to engage himself/herself in reflection, planning, one-on-one interactions, small group feedback, and large group learning.

The Institute environment resembles a laboratory more than a formal classroom. Students are encouraged to practice new skills, give and receive feedback from peers and faculty, and try out new behaviors in a safe, supportive atmosphere. Everyone at the LeaderShape® Institute is a teacher and everyone is a learner.

The participant's six-day experience is facilitated by faculty members who serve as role models and learning coaches. Just as important, however, are the peers and the Family Clusters, both of which provide support for learning. Throughout the week, The LeaderShape® Institute emphasizes the fact that "You Can Make A Difference!" Working with exciting but safe opportunities for growth and understanding, participants take on bold challenges and understand that leaders are neither born nor made, but shaped - and that each has a significant role to plan his/her own shaping.
