Our Mission Statement:
“The purpose of the Freshman Leadership Organization is to provide members with the leadership and networking skills necessary to become good leaders. We fulfill this mission by bringing freshmen of all backgrounds, interests, and majors together while providing them a positive, friendly environment in which we teach them how to maximize their leadership potential both on and off campus during their stay at the University of Texas.”
FLO connects outstanding freshmen to the UT Austin community. Student and community leaders attend FLO meetings and share information about their organizations and activities.
FLO connects freshmen to each other. Through FLO's many social activities, we create strong, lasting friendships within a diverse group of students who are also interested in leadership.
FLO connects freshmen with mentors. Our mentors are UT student leaders who serve as guides to the campus and as friends. They have all been members of FLO and are specially trained to meet the unique needs of FLO members.
FLO connects freshmen with current issues on campus. As an agency of Student Government, FLO members have the inside track on campus issues and events.
FLO connects freshmen with leadership. Our leadership seminars provide freshmen with the unique opportunity to learn from distinguished speakers and leaders on and around campus. Members are also given numerous opportunities to develop and demonstrate their leadership skills by leading committees and FLO events.
