Designing Accessible Web Sites

Course Description and Objectives

Many new Web publishers get excited about including graphics, animation, or sound in their Web pages without realizing that thousands of visually and hearing impaired Web surfers can't appreciate these features. In this class you will learn about the definition of web accessibility, types of assistive technologies, current accessibility laws and guidelines, tools for testing accessibility and references for writing accessible code.

Who Should Attend this Course?

We recommend that anyone who is planning to publish Web pages at UT Austin attend this session. Even people who have been publishing for the past year will benefit from learning about features to make their pages more accessible.

Prerequisites

Experience with a Web browser and knowledge of HTML.
