Notes from Digital Video Producers Meeting on
Feb. 1, 2002
The meeting began with discussion
about the items to include in a maxtrix for the video "best practices"
exercise. The matrix was produced. Please fill out
the matrix for each video you create.(Matrix in PDF
format)
Paul Williams reported on
a meeting with Georgia Harper (UT System General Counsel) regarding disrtributing
copyright material, students' work, etc., over the World Wide Web. The findings
are:
- access to a copyrighted
piece of work must be controlled and documented. For instance, for class materials,
only people (students and faculty) needing access to the material will be
given access and as soon as their need is gone, the access is blocked. The
access will be controlled and documented.
- access to student work
-- Adopt the language in the College of Fine Arts Catalog which, in many more
words, states that student work belongs to the College.
Diane Gierisch reported
that she has a Consent and Waiver form (in PDF) that
can be used when you want/need to use a student's or staff's picture or voice
on the Web. The University's Office of Legal Affairs and UT System General Counsel
have reviewed it. It can be used all the time but should be used:
- when using images, likeness
or voice of students and
- when using the same from
staff and it's NOT behind EID.
Diane will contact Georgia
Harper's office to request copies of releases that they have.
