Notes from Digital Video Producers Meeting on
March 7, 2002

Folks showed their 30 second video clips. Discussion followed on how the clips were created and how they looked. Quinn Stewart, Andy Greer and Mark Rogers showed their work.

The 10 minute We're Texas Impact Video has been digitized. A dv tape is available if folks want to copy it to work on. The following folks will show that piece at the April meeting.

At the end of the meeting we discussed creating a "wizard" for digital video producers:
1. Is your content going to be streaming or progressive download?
2. If progressive download, keep the file size small and know your target audience.
3. If streaming:
a.define your audience (for modem users use this data rate, for local campus users, use this data rate, etc.)
b. is your content full motion or talking head with little motion?
c. audio is important. sacrifice video quality for audio quality. remember mono audio.

We'll continue putting together questions dv producers need to answer before they begin their projects. Submit your own to dianeg@forum.utexas.edu.

Notes:
in the RealPlayer window you can do a right mouse-click to View Source.
Force Block Refresh in Cleaner/Sorenson to reduce image fading in and out as it moves.
