| What kinds of scholarships are available at UT? |
Students may apply for UT scholarships through the Office of Student Financial Services. Freshmen scholarship applications are submitted online. The University also offers a website dedicated to scholarships at UT called Texas Scholarships. The deadline for freshmen scholarships is December 1 every year. Scholarships for continuing students are awarded through the continuing and transfer application on the OSFS Web site. Applications are usually due April 1. Students may also inquire about scholarship opportunities from the college or school in which they are enrolled. In addition, the on-campus Military Science departments offer Army, Air Force and Naval ROTC two, three and four-year scholarships that pay UT tuition, most books and fees and an additional stipend of $250 per month. | How do students pay tuition and fee bills? |
Several payment methods are available: go to the "My Tuition Bill" Web site in UTdirect to pay using eCheck, electronic funds transfer or MasterCard or Discover (subject to a 1.75% convenience fee); or pay in person at Student Accounts Receivable Office, Main Building (MAI), Room 8. Be sure to be aware of payment deadlines. In the event you do not pay by the deadline, your registration will be cancelled.

Yes. To see all of the forms of payment, visit the Student Accounts Receivable webpage. |
| |
| What if a student changes classes after the fee bill is calculated? |
Check the "My Tuition Bill" to determine the amount due. Refunds are processed after the 12th class day and mailed to the student's local address or deposited into a bank account. "Where's My Check?" can verify a refund status. |
| |
| What happens if I don't pay tuition on time? |
If tuition is not paid by the deadline the courses the student is enrolled in will be “ZAPPED” or erased. This doesn’t mean that the student can’t attend school that semester, but it does mean that the student can only enroll in courses that have open seats at that time. For tuition deadlines see the Registrar’s calendar.

| Should students open local checking accounts? |
Many local businesses will accept out-of-town checks for purchases with a driver's license and a major credit card. However, out-of-state checks may be more difficult to use. For students who want to open a local checking account, there are several banks located within walking distance of the campus. ATMs are located adjacent to the Texas Union (UNB) and in a variety of locations around campus.
If a student is receiving financial aid, the funds, which are released at the beginning of each semester, will pay any bills outstanding to the University at the time they are released. The remaining balance will be sent to the student through the mail or via direct deposit. To set up direct deposit, the student should visit “What I Owe". He or she will need a bank routing number and an account number. |
