Should students bring cars to campus?

Any student may bring a car to The University of Texas at Austin. Parking in surface lots or in garages near the main campus requires a permit. Students may also park by paying an hourly rate in the UT Austin parking garages. Students with disabilities may access special parking with state or county license plates or placards for the disabled and the purchase of a UT Austin Class "DC" Permit.  For more information you can visit the UT Parking and Transportation website.

Does the campus have a bus service?

UT Austin and Capital Metro provide a free shuttle bus system paid by student fees to transport students within campus and to/from surrounding neighborhoods. Shuttles are usually available from 6:45 a.m.-11 p.m. weekdays, 2p.m.-11 p.m. Sundays, and offer limited service during registration and final examinations. Routes and schedules may be found online. Students may also ride Capital Metro free with a student ID, the City of Austin's transit system to many areas of the city not reached by the University's shuttle system, including shopping centers and malls. For more information, telephone 512-474-1200.

Is there special transportation to Dallas and Houston?
