Critical
thinking is the mastery of important intellectual skills and abilities that are
crucial for living our lives in a meaningful way. TIP Scholars are introduced
to critical thinking during their first semester at UT to help enhance their ability
to make informed decisions, analyze issues, and work toward their personal and
academic goals. The three-hour critical thinking seminar is taught in small sections
of no more than 25 students so that students can engage in open discussion and
debate while examining how they use the thinking process to understand their world.
Our focus on critical thinking ensures that all TIP Scholars can become flexible
and effective decision-makers capable of achieving the goals that will give their
lives purpose and fulfillment.
