Fields of Study

One of the features that makes TIP Fellows unique is that students have the freedom to design a field of study and receive an academic credential in that field. So, for example, while the University of Texas doesn’t have a “Medical Ethics” degree, TIP Fellows can nevertheless minor in “Medical Ethics,” or any other field that’s been approved by our faculty committee.

Once students decide on a name for their field of interest, they write a proposal that justifies the selection on personal and academic grounds. In their proposal, students select at least three relevant courses and explain their relevance to the proposed plan of study.
