At the Bottom of the Earth - Antarctica

Antarctica is a special and magical place. I have been fortunate enough to visit Antarctica more than a dozen times while leading nature and photography tours and I am always anxious to return. The wildlife of Antarctica is incredibly varied and abundant and it ranks as one of the most amazing places on earth to visit. I have watched first-time visitors get tears in their eyes when gazing upon the majesty of Antarctica for the first time. It is truly like being on another planet. I hope some of the images shown here will allow you to have a better idea of what Antarctica is all about.

Weddell Seal

Weddell Seal
Leptonychotes weddellii

Weddell Seals are common in Antarctica waters and are seen often. This one was resting on a small iceberg as I passed by in a small boat. He looked at me casually, then went back to sleep.
