Do
these heads result from the work of paleoindians?
This
highest river terrace of the Trinity has yielded other rich finds of
late Pleistocene mammals, but no other human artifacts of this age have
yet been uncovered.
Curtis
Tunnell writes in response to a query:
"Malakoff
heads were never proven a fake, but they remain an enigma.
Some good scientists like Glen Evans are convinced that they are real
and very ancient."
So..
what does Glen Evans believe?
He
thinks that they are indeed the work of paleoindians. He notes that
other sandstone concretions
in the
producing layer were not pitted in this manner,
and that he and the dig
crew actually found the third specimen in place.
