Museum Leadership: 1997-Present

Edward Theriot

Dr. Theriot was drawn to the Texas Memorial Museum by the challenge and opportunity to rebuild a museum. He seized this opportunity to set a new vision and direction for the Museum, reorganizing staff to strengthen both collection support and public programming. Rather than focus on one aspect of the Museum or the other, Dr. Theriot emphasizes integration of collections, scientific research and public outreach through informal education and exhibits. This harkens back to the original purpose of the TMM: building collections of rare and important Texas specimens, studying those collections, and educating and entertaining the public with something "particularly Texas."
